Pets & Ponds opened on November 19, 2002 in the new Publix shopping center, the Village Shoppes at East Cherokee.
Featuring a beautiful pond, grooming services, over 45 aquariums of tropical fish, dozens of specimens of reptiles and small
animals for sale, Pets & Ponds offers a new pet store experience in Cherokee County.
Co-owner Chris Sevin opened the store, which was his dream for years, with a vision of providing an interesting, customer-service
oriented store with the attention he knows is important to pet owners. Years of previous pet store sales experience
and his personal experience owning most every mammal and reptile he sells, helped prepare him for his endeavor. Going
into business with Chris is his father, Ronnie, who feels after retiring at an early age he found the perfect way to spend
his days by helping Chris establish his business. Not only will they try to stock all the day-to-day supplies pet owners
request and any special orders needed for special pets, but offer pond supplies for do-it-yourselfers who want to join the
ever-growing pond craze. Future plans include the addition of salt-water fish tanks.
Pets & Ponds also offers expert grooming services by experienced groomers Shelby McKay formerly of Grooming Dale's
in Towne Lake and Katie formerly of Hayne's Pet Center in Marrietta. Grooming services are available Monday through Saturday
by apointment starting at 9 a.m. and are on a first come first serve basis.
Wishing to provide a service to the area, and always conscious of the over population of dogs and cats, Chris and Ronnie
have chosen not to sell dogs except through our local breeders, and to take in stray kittens to readopt out. Prior to
opening the store Chris adopted two kittens from the Cherokee Animal Shelter, Pumpkin and Peaches, who live in the store and
love the attention they receive from visitors.
